Dear Miss Smartypants,
I made the switch from one satellite company to another to save money. It's going great except for one thing - I'm stuck with the old dish! The company will recycle the receiver, but apparently the dish is my problem. What can I do with it?
Dished Off
Dear Dishy, Make a bird bath? Turn it into art? Okay, there's got to be something better than that. You could build a WiFi biquad dish antenna if you're feeling inventive. There are probably not-for-profits in your area that would be glad to take it off your hands and repurpose it. If you're in the National Capital Region, Outaouais Computer Recycling is among them. If you live in Ontario, there's a new website from Ontario Electronic Stewardship, Do What You Can, that will help you figure out how to dispose of electronic (and household) waste in your area. If none of those work for you, you can call or e-mail the first respondent on this forum. He'd be glad to take it off your hands. Dishing it Out, Miss Smartypants
