Have I peaked at 23?

Life seems so unfair lately.

The younger you are the more chances you got,

To be under 18 is really what's hot.

I'm too old to be a pop star, but still too young to be a pro.

Even when I think I'm qualified it seems I still have to pay my dues,

Getting coffee, running errands ... oh god, what a fucking snooze.

Its unclear exactly what I am qualified for, but I guess it doesn't really matter,

From job to job it's all the same - sitting and staring while growing fatter.

No doubt about it, its best to start out young,

At least then when you are older you can have a little fun.

So apply that moisturizer nightly and get a fake I.D.

Not the kind that gets you into nightclubs, but one where your birthday reads "1993".

Then, and only then, can you make that ultimate list,

Be in the Top 20 Under 20 and your life will sure be bliss.

A prodigy I will never be,

Clearly it's too late for me.

How this happened I will never know,

But people keep reassuring me that I still have time to grow.

The things is, they don't seem to get that this was not what I had in mind,

I had figured that by this age I would at least be close to having my life in line.

I mean wasn't that the plan? I'd graduate and then move?

But here I am still stuck at home with my whole life left to prove.
