They never found her bones in the book, or the movie. The reader and the movie viewer saw what happend to them (same in both, but strung out in the movie, timing was diffrent) Only the elbow was found, then the hat and a "signifigant" amount of blood that lead the police to declare her are dead. - Michelle

One big event i thought that was missed in the movie, was that the family knew she was dead because of finding her bones - that part being left out of the movie was unforgiveable. - Helene

While the movie wasn't bad, the book wins again. So much of what made the book heartbreaking and ultimately hopeful was lost in translation. - Will

When I heard about the film adaptation of The Lovely Bones, I decided I didn't want to see the movie because I remember how horrific the book was (not the book itself, but the story - you're absolutely right when you say that it's haunting). And then when I found out it was going to cut some things out, I thought oh good, maybe now I could stomach it. But now I can see that you're right, the movie would need to be horrific too or else you would lose the core of the story, and the reason the book is so good is because it's so chilling. - Madison
