It's not really shaping up to be a steamy Canada Day here in the capital, but who doesn't like air conditioning in July? Allow me to tell you something that you probably already knew: general admission is free to museums and galleries today. Free! You might have to pay to get into special exhibits, but whatever. There's plenty in the regular collections at the War Museum, National Gallery, and Museum of Civilizations to check out (although that Mythic Beasts exhibit was awesome Mythic Beasts: Dragons, Unicorns, and Mermaid... Chupacabra!). Anyway, two such places shared some info with us, and we've got it here for you:

And speaking on Yousuf Karsh:

Studio K: A Karsh Experience invites families, school children and educators to discover legendary portrait photographer Yousuf Karsh's relationship with the theatre. Visitors can experiment with lights, costumes and cameras as they follow Karsh's lead in creating dramatic photographs, as he did of Ottawa stage productions and Hollywood stars.

Presented by the Portrait Gallery of Canada, a program of Library and Archives Canada. Studio K: A Karsh Experience is part of Festival Karsh and is the first stop on the Karsh Trail!
