Bangkok's prestigious international film festival was officially launched at a press conference on August 17, 2009, by K.Weerasuk Kowsurat, Chairman of the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

Movie stars, producers, directors and investors will descend for a week long celebration of film. Movies and events will be held from Chiang Mai, Bangkok to Phuket, showcasing the unique beauty, cultural diversity and the warmth and friendliness of Thai peopl in the Land of Smiles.

The festival directors have put together an excellent selection process of films from a round the world.

The moviegoer is the most important person for a festival such as this, and being a public festival you don't have to be a filmmaker or journalist to enjoy the screenings.

Last year, the festival managed to attract some 40,000 people, a wider range of audiences than ever before, with many attending the festival for the first time.

Hoping to continue this trend this year, and open up the world of cinema to a new generation of film buffs and industry professionals.

One of the aims of this year's festival is to show film makers the potential of Thailand as a location for production, good facilities, great crews and government incentives

So make a note that 24th to 30th September, Bangkok is the place to be for film!

Festival Program:

The Film Federation Of Thailand has prepared an incredible selection of films for this years 6th Bangkok International Film Festival.
