Does that whole thing about child actors growing up to be drugged out adults apply to Canadian stages actors? If you don't think it does, then you may want to have your young star in the making audition for the role of Tiny Tim. Check it out the press release: Auditions to be held for the role of Tiny Tim for the NAC English Theatre's production of A Christmas Carol! The National Arts Centre English Theatre is looking to cast the role of Tiny Tim with a local child actor and auditions will take place on Saturday, September 12 at the NAC!
Potential candidates must be between the ages of 7 and 10, under 4'10" in height, and of small build - but most of all we are looking for kids who really want to sing, act and play. Both boys and girls will be considered and we encourage children of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds to audition. Auditions will be held at the National Arts Centre on Saturday, September 12th in two groups. The morning session will begin at 10 a.m. and finish at 12 p.m. and the afternoon session will begin at 1 p.m. and conclude by 3 p.m. Audition times will allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Rehearsals begin October 26th and the production runs from the 8th of December until the 27th. As much as possible rehearsals will be planned around school hours, however there will be eight weekly performances during the run including both matinees and evenings. All rehearsals and performances will be supervised. The actor cast will be paid a weekly fee. While this is a serious commitment - being part of this live, professional theatre experience not only builds confidence and self expression, but is a great way to celebrate the holidays with audiences in Ottawa.

The National Arts Centre English Theatre is celebrating its 40th Anniversary with a special production of Charles Dickens Holiday Classic, A Christmas Carol, directed by Artistic Director Peter Hinton and starring Stratford Festival veteran Stephen Ouimette as Ebenezer Scrooge and the NAC 40th Anniversary English Theatre Acting Company. We are looking for a child actor to play the role of Tiny Tim and be a part of our 40th Anniversary English Theatre Acting Company.
