The Public Art Program presents an Opportunity for Artists
Request for proposals

Introduction
In keeping with the Percent for Art Policy, the City of Ottawa is accepting proposals for permanent public artwork for the Market Place corridor of the Southwest Transit Expansion. Artists and/or artist teams are invited to apply to develop, design and implement a public art commission that will be integrated into Market Place corridor.

The Market Place Corridor is located between Market Place Ave and the South Drive Aisle (see plan). Construction of the new corridor is currently underway.

The Public Art Program would like to encourage artists and artist teams to carefully consider concepts and material usage that reflect environmental efficiency, community identity, and the project vision below.  In addition to traditional concepts, the Program encourages new and innovative artistic solutions, such as the exploration of digital technology and other contemporary technology-involved art for this installation.

Budget
The total budget for this commission is $90,000 plus GST. The commission budget must include all costs required to design, fabricate and install the project.

Deadline
Submissions must be received by mail or by hand no later than Monday May 24, at 3:30 p.m.  (This is not a postmark deadline). Fax or e-mail submissions will not be accepted. Incomplete or late proposals will not be reviewed.
