"Pix & Paint"  (Photo-Based Paintings)
A group show of artists who mix photography and paint.  Six different approaches to this  emerging genre, based on the blending of the old and the new.  This show is about a merging of aspects of modernity (photography) and tradition (painting).  One of the cutting edge genres in contemporary art today is a combination of photography and painting. The artists' use of both media asks the viewer to consider what is original and what is representational, what is real and what is not, what is tradition and what is modern.

Rothwell Gallery Featured Artist exhibit:
Denis Larouche: September 3 - 29, 2009
In the process of deconstructing and reconstructing matter and space, in how many ways can the artist interpret a sky, water, or earth? Because its very nature implies change, we accept the many identities of our environment, while our own tendency towards organization makes us look for, and find, structure.  As Denis pursues the deconstruction of space in his oil on canvas semi-abstract landscapes, the viewer is invited to become aware of their own reconstruction process, of this Gestalt bridging the gap between the artist and the viewer.
