On Sunday, May 15 between 13:00 and 15:00, the Philip K. Wood Gallery will host the vernissage of (f)lux, a photographic exhibition featuring the work of four Ottawa-based photographers.
Each pursued different and distinct subject matter: a landscape transformed by suburban development; reflections that temporarily suspend our perception of reality; a boarded-up schoolhouse taking on a new life; and scenes of overlooked or even unseen spaces in and around Ottawa.
These photographs are united, however, by the artists' shared use of light to illustrate change and transformation, to capture dynamic relationships within a static image.
The Philip K. Wood Gallery is located at 7 Mill Street in Almonte, in the Victoria Woolen Mill.

Jean Jewer comes from the edge of the world.
A fisherman's daughter, she grew up in Main Brook, a remote village on the northern peninsula of Newfoundland, where she watched gigantic icebergs float by, and wind and water whip and carve the land. Her abstract paintings testify to a first-hand experience of the raw energy, violence and beauty of Eastern Canada's coastal landscape. Jewer writes that she feels "a visceral connection to the sublime drama of land and sea."
