Or, Wolverine Counter Programming.

Since you're probably planning to see X-Men: Origins: Wolverine (ooo, the double colon!), all I  can really do here is recommend that you read this article in Slate and remind yourselves that Wolverine is the most badass Canadian ever created.

If you're looking for something a little different, Two Lovers is opening this weekend at the World Exchange Centre theatres. It's Joaquin Phoenix's last (?) movie, and, critics seem to agree, one of his best if not the best performance of his career. If nothing else, James Gray is a fascinating, fatalistic director with a fantastic sense of place.

Hunger, the true story of a chain of hunger strikes in a Northern Irish prison to protest treatment of inmates as terrorists instead of political prisonners, premieres at the Bytowne this weekend as well.

It's sounding like a bit of a downer weekend if you follow the counter programming, but nothing will make me recommend that you go see Ghosts of Girlfriends past, which is also opening this weekend. That movie looks horrible. If you need something lighter, go see 17 Again instead. I thought it would be terrible, and it turned out to be really cute.
