In addition to the fact that The Runaways will have begin a limited release in Canada and the U.S. this Friday, it's been well publicized for some time now that it stars Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as Cherrie Currie. Nothing new here, obviously. But I actually watched the trailer this weekend, and you know what? It totally stars Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen. See for yourself:

Not in actual point of fact, but, if that trailer is anything to go by, Dakota Fanning isn't so much playing Currie as she is doing a spot-on Taylor Momsen-as-Jenny-Humphrey impression. Everything about it is right: the attitude, the vocal inflections, even (especially?) the messy blonde hair and crazy makeup. I doubt that Momsen has secretly been portraying Jenny Humphrey as a modern day Currie this entire time, so the producers really missed the boat on this one. Nothing against Fanning, but Jenny Humphrey would totally rock that shit out.
