Cumberland Heritage Village Museum, located in a picturesque rural setting just 25 minutes from downtown Ottawa has scheduled the following activities for weekend family outings without leaving the city:
* Blacksmithing Workshop on Saturday, June 25, with sessions at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.: The village blacksmith presents a beginners’ blacksmithing workshop and participants will be encouraged to strike while the iron is hot! New blacksmiths will turn unremarkable pieces of metal into unique usable works of art to take home.
* Young at Heart on Sunday, June 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: The museum will be offering free admission for guests 65 years of age and older. The Young at Heart are invited to explore the museum’s gardens and enjoy the village’s relaxed atmosphere during tea services at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The cost to participate in the Blacksmithing Workshop is $10 / person. Registration is required by calling 613-833-3059.
